International date support for uploads!
International date support for uploads
There are now 3 unique date formats supported for expenses file uploads and Splitwise imports! Originally, there was only the US date format of MM/DD/YYYY, so the upload action could fail with incorrect date formats. We've now added support for popular international date formats: DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, and YYYY/MM/DD.
You will see this on:
- Expenses uploads: Importing from your bank or credit card statement
- Splitwise import: Importing from Splitwise via a Group or Friend export
Why is this important?
This is important because it allows you to upload expenses with the date format you are most comfortable with. If you are in the US, you might prefer the MM/DD/YYYY format. If you are in the UK, you might prefer the DD/MM/YYYY format. If you are in Japan, you might prefer the YYYY/MM/DD format. This makes it easier for you to upload expenses from your bank, credit card statements, or directly from Splitwise.
Note: Your preferences will be saved, so you don't have to select the date format every time you upload expenses, it will choose the last format you used.
Conclusion
We are excited to launch international date support for uploads. This feature allows you to upload expenses with the date format you are most comfortable with. We hope you enjoy this new feature and find it helpful in managing your expenses from various sources.
