Understand when, why, and how your card transactions are refreshed

Credit card and bank account syncing is powered by Stripe. This means we don't store your card or bank account information. Instead, we use Stripe to securely store your card and bank account information and refresh your transactions. This ensures your data is secure and up-to-date.

Transaction refreshes happen every 24 hours. However, sometimes there are issues with refreshing your transactions. This could be due to a variety of reasons, such as your card being expired, your bank account being disconnected, or a temporary issue with your bank.

To allow you to understand when your transactions were last refreshed and if there were any issues, we've added a new feature that allows you to view the detailed history of your card transaction refreshes.

Refresh history

If your card transactions are not refreshing, you can re-link your card or bank account. To do this, go to the Accounts page, click on the card or bank account you want to re-link, and click the "Re-link" button. This will take you through the process of re-linking your card or bank account.

Note: If you don't see the "Re-link" button but your account is inactive, you can go through the "Add account" process to re-link your account, just be sure to select the same account that is already linked to get it fixed.

Disable daily expenses sync

You can now control if you want to import your expenses daily. If you disable this feature, your expenses will not be imported daily. You can turn this on or off whenever you like. It will affect future daily expense syncs.

Manage account

Pull in expenses manually by date range

The accounts you link to SplitMyExpenses try hard to stay up to date with your expenses. If you turn off daily expenses sync, we will not import your expenses daily. However, you can still pull in your expenses manually by triggering an account refresh, while your daily sync is turned off, then manually select the date range you want to pull in expenses for.

Sync expenses on demand

Conclusion

Don't worry about your card transactions not refreshing. We've got you covered. With the new feature that allows you to view the detailed history of your card transaction refreshes, you can understand when your transactions were last refreshed and if there were any issues. If you need to re-link your account, you can do so easily. You can also disable daily expenses sync and pull in expenses manually by date range.
