Create a payment without debts

The Settle up button will now always appear on the groups page, friends page, and all expenses page. Previously the Settle up button would only appear if you had debts to settle. Now you can create a payment without debts! This is useful when you want to record a payment that doesn't involve any debts, such as a payment for a group expense that was paid for by a friend.

You will see this on:

  1. Friend: Mark a payment between you and a friend
  2. Group: Mark a payment between you and someone else in the group
  3. Expenses: Mark a payment between any friends

New UI to configure the payment payer & recipient

Now you can configure the payment payer and recipient when creating a payment. This allows you to mark a payment between you and a friend, or between two friends in a group. You can also mark a payment between any friends, even if you are not directly involved in the payment, as long as it's within a group!

Things you can change:

  1. Payer: The person who paid for the expense
  2. Recipient: The person who received the payment
  3. Amount: The amount of the payment
  4. Date: The date of the payment

Note: There is even a swap button to quickly swap the payer and recipient!

Attach a group to a payment

You can now change the group associated with a payment. This is useful when you want to mark a payment between two friends in a group, but the payment is not associated with the group. You can now attach the group to the payment, so it's easier to find the payment later.

Conclusion

We are stoked to launch the ability to create a payment without debts. This feature allows you to record a payment that doesn't involve any debts, such as a payment for a group expense that was paid for by a friend. We hope you enjoy this new feature and find it helpful in managing your payments.
